Wee Bits

The other day was Randy's birthday (go 35!) and his parents sent him a Furby, which turned out to be a very popular gift around here.  This new addition to our household has been hilarious and strange all at once.  Clara loves him most of all.

We had a four-day weekend this week and decided to take the kids on a field trip to the Air and Space Museum annex.  We got to see lots of really cool planes, but our favorite was the Space Shuttle - it's ginormous!

While there we had a lesson in gratitude, in that a few of the kids pictured here were not displaying any, so we packed them up and left, and told them that their sour attitudes cost them going out to lunch and seeing an IMAX movie.  Us adults were most disappointed to have our outing cut short.   But the planes were great, and the kids have been very contrite these past few days, going out of their way to be less grouchy.

On Wednesday, Lindsey came home from school bouncing with joy!  She earned a certificate saying she had been admitted to the "Headstand Club" at school.

And now everybody's doing them.  I even did one before realizing I am too old for that kind of sport.

This morning we woke up to a dusting of snow.  Not too much, but a dusting is enough around here to delay school for two hours!  We celebrated with a big waffle breakfast!

Since school was so late, we had enough time to tromp around the yard a while in our snow get-ups.

Clara rather stoically displays our favorite snow suit of all time.  All four kids have worn this snowsuit (we had to stuff Rand into it the first time, kicking and wailing before he realized how awesome this thing is, finally conceding, "I like my new coat dad.").  Each kid looks like an Ewok in it.

The snow was powdery, and not too slick, but the kids managed to get in some good sledding runs.

The sled our neighbor gave us last year is the coolest.  All four kids can fit on there! After the big kids went to school, I pulled the little girls to the park on this sled and we played there a while before sledding back home.  I was pulling the girls along a trail at the park when I realized Clara was singing, "Jingle Bells," which I find rather hilarious.

I love having a nice place upstairs to warm up after being outside, and dry all the wet snow things :)

Tiny gloves on the stove is maybe the sweetest thing ever. Your family is just as adorable as always.
