Dish Pan Hands

Last night, Clara was sick, sick, sick.  It was very sad and very messy.  We are all crossing our fingers that no one else gets this, but it feels inevitable.  Just to try to stave off further episodes of puke-o-rama, we have been in major disinfecting mode.  Yesterday we armed the kids with lysol wipes and had them scouring anything they could.  Laundry has been going non-stop.  Just for good measure, so far today I:

  • Bathed all children
  • Showered
  • Got big kids off to school, crossing fingers they stay well
  • Washed laundry
  • Folded laundry
  • Washed more laundry
  • I am watching Amelia closely - I think she could be next since she and Clara are always together.  Unless it's me since all Clara wanted yesterday was to be held, therefore I was the target of much of the vomit
  • Swept floors
  • Mopped the kitchen
  • Mopped the bathrooms
  • Mopped the hardwood
  • Wiped up the gatorade that Amelia snuck from the fridge and drank (and spilled) nearly as soon as I was done mopping.
  • Vacuumed
  • Drank a coke
  • Wiped every surface possible with bleach/water (I hope I didn't ruin anything!).  Amelia loves that "Swimming pool spray" I was using.  It does smell very chlorine-y in here.
  • Scrubbed all the bathrooms
  • Scrubbed the kitchen
  • Washed my hands roughly 5000 times.  They are very dry and sore.
  • Wished there was some chocolate in this house
  • Sat down just now.  Whew
I should add that Clara is back to herself today (mostly, her appetite isn't back).  This lasted almost exactly 12 hours.  Poor thing.

p.s.  I don't love hearing about people being sick.  Sorry if you are the same and still read this.  Sometimes enumerating what I've done in a day does me a lot of good for some reason.

you guy should try drinking grape juice. I read a thing online saying that it helps you not catch the vomit bug. We use it and it seems to work.

Thanks for the tip Erin! All my instincts would say to stay away from grape juice as it could be messy, you know, coming back up. But not if it really works though!
