This Morning I Ate a Taquito for Breakfast

Today I was awoken by one of my kids saying they had an accident and needed to take a shower.  Ah, good morning!

My kids like using the shower in our bathroom, rather than the one in the kids' bathroom, so my own shower was delayed.  I was speedy, but not fast enough!  When I got out of the shower, I was greeted by Amelia who showed me a hand covered in red.  I said, "Are you bleeding!?!?!" She responded, "No, I'm sticky!"  "With what?"  My delayed shower had delayed breakfast.  The kids were HUNGRY, and Amelia got creative!  We went into the kitchen to wash her hands and were greeted by the sight of a counter covered in clumps of raspberry jam and a few towels that evidently were used to smear those around a little.  And as I walked past this counter, my bare feet were greeted by a floor covered in a thin layer of sticky jam, the dustpan and small sweeper had also been used in the cleanup and were completely covered in jam and seeds, and there was another towel laying close-by that had been used to wipe the floor.  At least she tried.  So I shuffled Amelia out of the kitchen to mop up.  I made Clara cry by bodily removing her from the kitchen no less than three times because no matter what, she kept walking right back to the same sticky half of the kitchen floor over and over and yelling, "Oh no!  Sticky!  Sticky!".

I didn't take pictures, so envision the scene below, but substitute jam for the milk shown and imagine the golden kitchen instead of dining room, with the same level of effectiveness on the kid cleanup efforts.

I mopped the kitchen.  I dressed Amelia.  I changed Clara and got her dressed.  The big kids practiced piano purely out of fear when I suggested they do that instead of asking for food so I could clean the floor already!  Time was running short so they had frozen waffles for breakfast.  I hurt Lindsey's feelings by trying to cut her off at 3 waffles.  She waned 4.  She was so HUNGRY since she had to wait soooo long to eat.  She had 4 and we got over it.

But the thing is, I was HUNGRY.  I have, on and off since having Clara, been attempting to lose baby weight from having Clara (and Amelia).  In my efforts, I awesomely made negative progress these past several weeks.  It seems the more I focus on what I'm eating, the more I want to eat.  (Is there no room for baking when losing weight?  Wah.)   But I recruited Randy to the cause and knowing we can see each other's food diaries (on myfitnesspal) is mostly motivation enough to keep me on the straight and narrow.  But tracking food and being careful of what I'm eating means I wake up ready for a meal.  But today there was no time to make an egg or to even sit down and eat at all.  So I opened the fridge, saw taquitos left over from a dinner we hosted this weekend, and ate one.  Cold.  It was delicious.  It would have been even better with a coke or some chocolate on the side :)
